Donkeys, due to their ethological characteristics and their symbolic value within our culture, offer the opportunity to experience a deep knowledge of oneself, to discovery one's emotions but also to develop trust in oneself and in the relationship with the 'other. This article is the English version of a previous Danish version, partly modified and enriched; it deal about how and for what reasons meaningful learning experiences are feasible in every life ages, starting from early childhood. The article deals with the theme of reflexivity in learning processes, considering reflexivity as a thinking activity about our own actions and about ourselves in relation with our own actions.
